The tingle on the back of Boone's neck had been then for a good few minutes, most likely dulled by his conversation with Claire, but now it was a constant burning. He didn't have to turn around to know what was causing it; the hairs on his body always stood on the end when Shannon was nearby.

He didn't have to turn around.

He didn't need to turn around.

He didn't want to turn around.

But his body moved on familiar instinct, his head craning in her direction slowly and cautiously, as if going too fast would cause her to disappear into thin air. He blinked once, watching her, unconsciously prompting her to met his eyes.

But she was already focused on someone else.

Sawyer. Boone bristled at the thought of the two of them together, Shannon with her trademark smirk, and that smug bastard with a grin that begged to be knocked off his face.

But Boone had already tried that, hadn't he? And surprise, surprise, he had failed horribly. He had never won against the bullies when he was younger, so why should he start now?

It wasn't like Shannon needed the protection, or even wanted it seems, judging by her expression in response to their conversation that was too soft to hear. Had she ever looked at him like the way she was gazing at Sawyer? He couldn't remember the last time they had talked that hadn't ended in yelling.

No, it seemed Shannon didn't need his help at all anymore.

Kate left Shannon with the martial, and walked off with Jack. They walked in silence for a while, till they got to where Kate's backpack was.

She picked up her bag, and put it on, stealing a glance at Jack, who stared off at the jungle. "You think we'll find water today?"

tagged: to Jack and Kathy, who can just...appear from the sand...er...or walk on. *shrug* :P

Something of a Pirate [Friday, May 27th, 2005 @ 1:02pm]

Sawyer had long-ago abandoned the red headed young woman he had been talking to previously when their conversation became painfully desperate. It was a shame, too, because she really was quite pretty. There was just something about sweet and innocent girls that Sawyer couldn't stand. Maybe it was because he was so impure...so fucked up...that he didn't want to mar their psyche. He wouldn't wish this kind of mindset on even his worst enemy. Or maybe it was because he couldn't stand the possibility that someone good and pure might actually be interested in him. Interested in helping him. In loving him. In saving him.

He walked along the beach, back to the site of the crash and just took it all in. It was amazing how much the scene before him felt like the scene within him. Complete chaos. Pain. Death. Destruction. The people moving around were completely silent, contrasting extremely from the way they had all been just yesterday. There was a sense of mourning...a kind of funereal aspect to the beach. Who would have ever have affiliated a tropical beach with such a feeling as this? It was too ironic...it was like a slap in the face. A slap in the face from fate itself.

Sawyer figured all the other survivors were too numb or too preoccupied to take notice to him at the moment. So he decided to loot some of the bags for things that he felt would be important to him. Smokes, medicine, alcohol, that kind of thing. He picked up the closest bag next to him, and emptied it, rummaging through the contents and finding nothing of interest (besides, of course, the bag). So he moved along to the next bag, crouching and looking through an unknown person's possessions. He found an old-fashioned razor and decided to take it, placing it in his own bag and continuing on his way. Little did he know that he was being watched.

[ mood | curious ]

Jack was standing by the marshall when he saw the blonde girl he had taken care of a few days before walking by him. What was her name?, he thought. Ah yes, Shannon, she had the overprotective brother. He studied her face and noticed that she looked upset and had tear tracks on her cheeks. His doctor instincts kicked in and he only hesitated a moment before approaching her to find out what was wrong.

"Are you okay?" he asked gently, not wanting to startle her. "You look upset."

Darkness Ensues [Monday, February 21st, 2005 @ 1:07am]

Claire was wandering across the beach, holding onto her stomach softly as she watched the sand shimmer in the sunlight. She looked over at the jungle again and didn't dare go any closer. She really didn't want to meet whatever made those noises before...face to face. So she continued on, toward the ocean. Suddenly, she stopped dead in her tracks and gripped at her stomach. Her mouth hung open and she suddenly felt dizzy. Everything was spinning around rapidly in a circus of colors and figures. That was what made her stop. The dizziness...and the visions that were starting to fill her head. Dark things. Scary things. She started to sway and her eyes looked glazed over as she teetered and started to fall backward.

Kate walked down the beach, hurrying away from Bryan and Jack. She couldn't stand to be near Bryan anymore...he just reeked of death and a life that Kate wanted to forget.

Kate stumbled in the sand and sat down heavily, watching the waves crash into the sand. She tucked her knees up under her chin and sighed heavily. Life never let her catch her breath, she was constantly running.

She drew a little circle in the sand and jumped when a shadow fell over her. She whirled around and saw...

Sitting Still Is Not An Option [Thursday, February 10th, 2005 @ 2:24pm]

Claire soon became bored with just sitting on the blanket and writing, whilst everyone else was actually doing something. She would go back and help Shannon, but she figured that Shannon and Boone needed time alone anyway, so she slowly pushed herself up from the ground and covered up Charlie's guitar again to hide it. She started down the beach a bit, seeing if anyone was in dire need of a hand, but didn't see anyone struggling in the least. They were all working together. Which was helpful and made her smile a bit. She did take note that most of the pieces of plane that had come flying off were now cleaned up, or were at least heading in that direction though. For some reason that made her uneasy. It was as if they knew they weren't getting out of here anytime soon. Claire's eyes stared down at the shimmering grains of sand as she walked on.

Soon she came toward a woman who looked extremely worried about something, but was keeping herself busy nonetheless. A man, wounded, and not looking on the healthy side at all lay only a couple feet away from her. Claire approached cautiously and then quietly spoke up. "Hullo. I...well is he all right?" She asked, nodding towards the man, but speaking to the woman. "I feel utterly useless just staying near my little post so I thought I might find something to help with. Do you need anything? I'm Claire." She reached out, offering her hand to the charming looking woman.

[Tag Kate (I included the marshall as the man, by the way. Hope that's all right). Anyone else can join as well. :)]

[Thursday, February 10th, 2005 @ 12:33pm]

Sun couldn't decide what left her the most curious: How they had managed to survive the crash, or the fact that it's been well over 24 hours, and no rescue crew has been sighted. Nobody has been sighted, apart from the few who were blessed (or perhaps cursed?) to still be alive. However, Sun knew that now wasn't the time to focus on that matter. How they had managed to survive the crash is irrelevant compared to how they will go about surviving the island. Together, both Sun and Jin have managed to do alright for themselves the last couple of days, but Sun can't help feeling that now is the time to start interacting with the others. In brief passing, she's heard there's even a doctor on the island who is going around and helping the wounded. She knew she could do something to help, wanted to help. You can only stay in seclusion for so long, and when it comes to survival, there is most definitely strength in numbers.

She and Jin have spent most of the day scoping out the beach for their possessions, or anything that could be of use. Sun was the one who discovered the set of black suitcases--scattered amongst the shoreline--and with Jin's help, managed to pull them all to shore before settling down to open them. Under normal circumstances she would have never even dared to think of going through someone else's luggage. However, as they were all well aware, their situation was far from normal.

Quick fingers unlatched the first case, and she glanced up at Jin before tentatively sifting through the contents of the case. If there was nothing they could use, perhaps she could let the others see what they can make of it.

Always your self-pitied martyr [Tuesday, February 8th, 2005 @ 12:31am]

[continued from HERE]

Boone felt like he was drowning in a thick sea of confusion, coming up for air every now and then, blinded by jumbled images that didn't make sense in his muddled mind.

Jack checking him over for all his injuries.

Claire looking on, biting her lip in worry.

The feeling of floating as he was lifted to the shade.

Tears in Shannon's eyes as he whispered he loved her.

Although his vision wasn't exactly clear, he felt Shannon sitting near him, pretending to be somewhat engrossed with a stain on his shirt. It wasn't like her to not say what was bothering her, though no doubt she was feeling guilty, though she had done nothing wrong.

Now that Boone really thought about it, Shannon hadn't acted like the self-centered girl Boone always considered her to be. Maybe it was true what people say; that a large disaster brings out the best in people.

And he had got into fight in less than 24 hours after they crashed.

A new sense of guilt washed over him, and Boone was unable to be the first to speak. To be the one who broke the uneasy silence hanging in the air.

The Dangers of Walking Backwards [Saturday, February 5th, 2005 @ 12:02am]

Avril had been leaning back on her hands as she watched everyone fawn over the unconcious Boone. She gave a sideways smile as she watched Sawyer kiss Shannon.

'Well now that is interesting.'

Pulling herself forward she watched as Sawyer walked away from the group.
Looking around, no one was really paying attention to anyone other then Boone. She couldn't really blame them. He did get the shit kicked out of him. Smirking again she stood and walked down toward the waves of the ocean attempting to stay unnoticed. After a moment or two she looked back at the group. No eyes were on her. Turning suddenly she walked down the beach in the same direction of Sawyer.

There was something about him that she was drawn to.
She wasn't quite sure what it was, but she wanted to find out what.

'He could be a valuable asset on this island.' she thought as she quickened her pace a little.

She turned one last final time as the distance grew between her and the group to make sure no one had seen. Walking backwards she watched as they grew more and more distant.

'Looks like he'll be ok.' Boone was now thrashing in the sand. 'I'll check on him later. Got a few 'things' to chat about.' the smirk grew on her face as she walked backwards in the warm sand.

[Thursday, February 3rd, 2005 @ 5:24pm]

Jack approached Shannon and the others, he was carrying the first aid kit with him. He had promised Shannon to come look at her brother so here he was. He could make out Shannon and Claire but there was a body laying on the ground. He broke out into a run and kneeled next to Boone when he got there. He looked at Shannon.

"Was he unconscious when you left him?" he asked already checking Boone for head trauma.

Preoccupation [Tuesday, February 1st, 2005 @ 8:59pm]

[ mood | relieved ]

Charlie stumbled back to the beach from the outskirts of the jungle, squinting in the bright morning sunlight. A thousand times brighter on the island than in Sydney or L.A. Bright... but hot. Was this what hell felt like?

He rubbed his hand across his face, his teeth against his gums as he looked around in a slight daze, feeling the drugs run their slow and steady course through his veins. Much better. Perhaps he'd be able to get through the morning now. Not like before, when his hands had started to shake. Now. What had he been doing?

Oh yes. Food. Food for Claire. He himself wasn't the slightest bit hungry. Breakfast was overrated, anyway. Especially when he was fairly sure he couldn't get a good cup of tea on this island.

Still, Claire would want food. Claire needed food. So did her baby. And Charlie has promised he would bring food. Perhaps it wasn't a promise, really, but... Charlie would treat it as such. He felt he was meant to look after Claire. He wanted to.

After all, she was looking after his guitar. Or was that the only reason?

He turned and looked across the beach, making out a small group of people a distance down the shore, starting towards them slowly. Maybe they had food. Maybe they had binoculars and were watching out for a boat. Maybe by the time he'd found food and brought it to Claire, there'd be a boat in sight and they could get off this bloody island. Maybe.

11 didn't want to become lost

[Tuesday, February 1st, 2005 @ 11:08pm]

Claire watched Charlie go until there was nothing left to see. The jungle hid him from her view and all she could do was hope that he would come back soon. In the meantime she opened her diary back up to doodle in it, finding that doodling sometimes passed the time. She would look up every now and then to see people walking around, a new day really starting. Her eyes wandered down the beach a bit and fell onto Boone...he was lying on the ground and looked like he was in pain. Her brow furrowed and she pushed herself up from the ground. She wanted to make sure he was all right. There was another man over there, someone she didn't recognize.

Claire looked down at Charlie's guitar. She had promised she would watch it. She chewed on her lower lip a moment then decided to wrap the guitar with its case up into her blanket, hiding it behind her bag. She could look back at it now and then. With that Claire wandered over and approached the two men quietly. Her pale blue eyes landed on the man watching over Boone. "Hullo...is...oh my gosh." She caught a real glimpse of how bad Boone's condition was and immediately knelt down beside him. She brushed some matted hair out of his eyes and looked at the stranger again. "What happened? Where's Shannon?" She asked, concernedly. "Boone...can you hear me?" She asked softly and lifted his head a bit so he might breath better.

[Tag Sawyer, Boone, and Shannon and Avril if they are on their way. :) Hope you guys don't mind.]

[Monday, January 31st, 2005 @ 9:22pm]

Kate stumbled out of the jungle, looking around, Hurley following. She spotted Ella, heading down to the fuselage. She looked around for Jack, and spotted him tending to the Air Marshall. She hesitated, but squared her shoulders and headed onwards. She stumbled as some of the sand gave away.

"Jack!" She called out. "Did you find what you needed?" She noticed he looked slightly more beat up than he did when they parted. She momentarily forgot about the air marshall, Hurley, everything. "What happened out there?!"

Looking For The Doctor [Wednesday, January 26th, 2005 @ 1:11pm]

[ mood | cranky ]

[OOC: Connected to Talk About A Guilt Trip. Also Jack, hope you don’t mind I mentioned you.]

Shannon moved as quickly as she could, willing herself not to run back to check on Boone and Sawyer.

She had no idea where the doctor was or if she’d even find him. She had heard he had gone with a group into the jungle to find the front of the plane, and hadn’t seen them return that night. For all she knew he was too busy tending to other people who were injured far worse than two guys who got into a fist fight. Going to find him, however, gave her a reason to take a break from being around Boone and Sawyer’s mood swings and bickering. It also gave her a reason to see if the fresh air would do her some good. She didn’t want to have another asthma attack, but in case she did she carried her inhaler with her this time.

She knew what Doctor Jack looked like, but with the vast expanse of beach lying before her she knew that she should probably find someone to help her look. The first two people she would have asked both needed to cool off, besides they were the reason she was going to find the doctor in the first place. Then there was Charlie and Claire, but she had no idea where they were, so she went up to a group of people who were sitting around a small fire that had burned to almost nothing during the night and said, “I am looking for the doctor, have any of you seen him before? I would really like someone to go with me to find him.”

[Tag: Avril, and maybe Jack later? Let me know if you’re interested or have your own thing going because we can always just say we couldn't find him and then go from there.]

Flying was not Savannah's strong point. She didn't mind it, but it was times like this, when the plane hit turbulence, that she hated it. Her irrational fear of death combined with September 11 did not work well together. "Breathe" she told herself. "Calm down Sav, you'll be ok," said her fiancee Ben. Ah Ben. They were highschool sweethears, set to be married in a month. To many that seemed such a short amount of time, but to Savannah, it felt like forever. She grasped his hand tightly, her brown eyes wide, while his hazel eyes constantly comforted her every step of the way. Then the plane started to plummet downward and the masks came down. She shot a worried glance at Ben and he shrugged. They put on they're masks and starting breathing like they were told to. Then Savannah blacked out.

She woke up with the feel of the ocean lapping against her legs. She sat up and cried out, "Ben!" but there was no answer. She looked around and not but 10 feet away was her boyfriend, her fiancee, and best friend. Dead. "No" she choked. She crawled over to him on the wet sand. "Please no," she began to sob. She didn't even realize that she was bleeding. All that mattered to her was that Ben was dead.

Talk about a guilt trip. [Tuesday, January 25th, 2005 @ 12:58am]

The sun began to peek its head over the horizon, chasing the dark away slowly. Sawyer sat with his back to the jungle, watching the sun earn its victory over the night. He hadn't slept all night, he had felt so guilty about Shannon. Because of his stupidity, she had almost died. He acted tough, but when it came down to it, the smallest things tore him apart. And the more events hurt him, the angrier and more distant he became.

Everyone was sleeping and he wished that he was, too. His eyes felt heavy and he was sure there were deep, dark circles under them. His body ached, especially his legs. Next to him lay two empty packets of cigarettes, the result of his chain smoking. His mind and his body seemed to be completely seperated, and he could have sworn he heard his named being whispered every once in a while by invisible sources.

The sun broke free over the horizon and bathed the beach in sunlight.

Sawyer got up, and stretched a bit, scoping out the land. Everything was so quiet, that it was almost nerve-wracking. He spotted Shannon and Boone a couple yards away. Boone had his back to a tree, and his head was hung in a way that meant he had probably tried not to fall asleep, but was unsuccesful. Shannon was laying on a beach towel in the sand, with some warm clothes covering her. Her head was on Boone's lap.

Sawyer, feeling like he needed to do something, bent down and picked up a bottle of water from a Korean couple who were still asleep. Taking a deep breath, he began walking over to her, wondering what the hell he was doing. He bent low in front of her and placed the water bottle by her. He watched her for a few minutes. Her breath was regulated, but shallow, and there were also deep circles under her eyes. But she was alive, and that's all that mattered.

He stood up and turned to leave, but stepped on a small branch. Hearing it crack beneath his foot, he knew he'd been caught and waited for Boone to wake up and rag on him.

Brushing the branches past her face, she wandered down the path behind Jake towards the burning smell of the plane. She turned around and glanced behind her, but all she could see were a ton of branches. The smell of the burning metal and rubber were getting stronger as each step she took.

Good Morning [Sunday, January 23rd, 2005 @ 11:31pm]

Claire woke up the next morning, having forgotten where she was. She was as curled as she could get, her head lulled to the side and resting on someone's shoulder. The index finger of her left hand was wrapped up in some fabric that wasn't her own as if she was clinging to someone in her sleep. Which may well have been the case. Claire slowly opened up her shaded blue eyes to see who she was with and was surprised to find herself not flinch when it was Charlie. She hadn't slept near someone for some time and she must have felt awful comfortable to move the way she had in her sleep.

She didn't move right away, and wondered if he had awoken at all to see her clinging at him like that. She hoped not, she didn't want to scare him off. She couldn't very well control what happened while she slept, could she? Her eyes moved down to see her fingers grasping at his t-shirt softly. Claire chewed on her lower lip and slowly started to move, hoping she wouldn't wake him.
